Savannah, GA - Evelyn Virginia Curl Cochran, 89, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Harbor Chase Memory Care in Parkland, Florida after a long illness with her loving and devoted daughter by her side. Evelyn was born in Brewton, Georgia and lived in Savannah most of her life. She later moved to Parkland, Florida to live with her daughter, Madelyn and son-in-law, Aaron. She was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church in Savannah for over 75 years. She was active in Sunday school and the Christian Women's Association. Evelyn was a well known sales representative in three of Savannah's finest clothiers, Fines, Levy's and Ashers. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and Christian. Her greatest joy was being with family and friends. She loved cooking meals and baking always making everyone feel welcome. She enjoyed gardening and listening to Broadway show tunes. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Cochran, brothers, Lonnie Curl, Herman Curl, Richard Dick Curl and one sister, Beatrice Curl Williams.
She is survived by one daughter, Madelyn Campbell Hathaway Aaron of Parkland, FL; and one son, Gerald E. Stewart Linda of Savannah; two step-daughters, Shirley Beasley of Atlanta, GA; Gladys Hillis of Dexter, MO; three grandsons, Derrell Hathaway Lisa of Waxhaw, NC; Stephen Stewart Tracey of Savannah; Lance Stewart Heather of Savannah; three granddaughters, Angela Hathaway of Melbourne, FL; Amanda Sublette Clint of Tampa, FL; and Alicia Hathaway Jose of Miami, FL; thirteen great grandchildren, Matt, Corley, PJ, Lisa, Danielle, Zackery, Noah, Lucus, Mia, Valentina, Indie and Hunter.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors conducted by Reverend Brooks Cail.
Burial: Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

Madelyn, I saw the obituary in our Savannah paper today about your mother. So sorry for your loss. My mom died in 2008 at 96 and was still going strong at the time. I miss her terribly. Sometimes it's harder when they've been with us so long! I'm glad, though, that I could communicate with you after all these years. You'll have to e-mail me sometime.
